Clips are Cool

Clips are cool. Yup, that's right! Not only are they cool, but elegant, convenient, and better for your ears. If you wore allot of those big heavy earrings in the 1980's, you probably have some stretched out earring holes, just like I do! I hate wearing heavy dangle earrings. It just looks so uncomfortable, seeing your lobes all stretched out.

I once worked for a woman who owned a multi-million dollar company. When she needed a new outfit, she want to Paris, not the mall. Her exquisite taste applied to her accessories as well. She was always dressed to the nines and her jewelry was the perfect compliment. One day, I saw her take a phone call, and for some reason it has stuck with me ever since. She elegantly picked up the phone and gently swept her clip earring off her ear. It was such a subtle thing, but utterly elegant and fascinating to watch (okay, I am easily entertained). You just can't do that with posts.

Clips are statement earrings. You can buy your average pearl style clips, but the range of clips available today, vintage and new, is amazing. I just bought a pair of Simon Alcantara semi- precious couture clips, and they are absolutely gorgeous. They are big and heavy, yet sit elegantly on your ears. You could never wear a pair like this if they were posts.

The array of vintage clips available today is astounding. Most are in great condition, and you can find colors, styles and prices to suit every taste. I especially love all of the rhinestone and A.B. sets, and all of the dainty flower themed enamel pieces. Not only is vintage jewelry great for special occasions, but they are the perfect statement pieces and can be paired with a white tee or a business suit, just as easily as a wedding dress or evening gown! Fun, Fun, Fun!
