History Lane

On a recent trip in the Maryland countryside, I came upon this beautiful drive, as I was making my way down a narrow, winding, country road.

A few feet down the road from the drive was this beautiful stone building.

Around the corner and a bit further down I caught a glimpse of what was at the end of the drive.

Stunningly idyllic setting, brick house, horses, old fashioned swing (click pic to enlarge) and all.

This private residence was actually a prison during the Civil War.

These beautiful and historic discoveries off the beaten path, never cease to amaze me!
